Your Furniture Could Be Toxic

YVH December 29, 2019

Background

Great show tomorrow night led off by Monica Wright whose Black Communities Action Committee is rebuilding homes for Philly’s low-income population.  The Committee’s latest project: a home purchased for the price of back taxes only that is now worth $90,000. In our Horror Story today, we learn why it makes sense to check the condition of the sub-floor before installing a new entry door.  Our College this Sunday includes vital advice for anyone in the market for new furniture: find out if any toxic substances were used in the fabric, and, if you’re environmentally conscious, where the wood came from.  This wisdom is provided by Susan Inglis head of the Sustainable Furnishings Council in Highpoint, NC.
