New Jersey’s Way of Monitoring Home Improvement Contractors

YVH November 3, 2019

Background

In our Your Valuable Home Replay tomorrow night, we discuss with a roofer the right and wrong way to add solar panels to a roof.  At what age should you replace your roofing shingles and repair any damaged wood, before adding solar?  The answer may surprise you.  In our Horror Story, the same roofer talks about one of the biggest roofing botch jobs he’s ever seen: new shingles, over a veneer nailed through old shingles and rotten plywood.  You have to hear this!  And in our College this Sunday, Kevin and Ron question Paul Rodriguez, the Acting Director of Consumer Affairs in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office about what NJ does to monitor the home improvement industry in his state.  With only about a thousand cases of infractions reported a year for a state the size of New Jersey, the system is working.
